What happens if you lost your data which is stored in your computer or burnt due to fire accident or theft or due to natural calamities? We need to know what is data center and data center infrastucture.
Naturally we won’t sleep and runs here and there or browses all sorts of web sites to know how to recover the data. Assume the same with big corporate, it will be severe damage to their business.
What is datacenter and types of datacenter?
So in order to safe guard our data, we need to have a secured place which is called Datacenter.
Why we need a separate place?
Who knows that the building in which we are running business may collapse all of a sudden or may not have a proper power supply or may be drowned in water due to cyclone Etc., as a human being we may not predict these unforeseen calamities.
In these critical situations we have to have a secure place at least to keep our data and hence the Data center is essential for any business.
What are the types of Datacenter available?
At present there are 4 kinds of Data Center Infrastructure are available in the world, Viz Tier I, Tier II, Tier III,Tier IV
Tier 1 DataCenter:-
This Data Center Services is having a single power supply with single cooling distribution system and doesn’t have any redundant or back up facility for the data. This Datacenter provides 99.671 % Up time.
Tier II Datacenter:-
This Datacenter is also having a single power supply source with single cooling distribution but has got redundancy or back up facility for the power supply and cooling. This Data Center gives you 99.741 % up time.
Tier III Datacenter:-
This Datacenter provides you multiple sources of power supply, means from two or more power supply companies and with redundant cooling systems. This gives you an up time of 99.982%
Tier IV Datacenter:-
Data Center is built on the best state of art of technology. They use latest Data Center Monitoring Tools. Whatever you name it you can have it. In the sense that this has got power supply backups and multiple cooling systems and can work even without the power supply for 2 or 3 days with the help of generators or UPS. This provides 99.995% uptime.
In my next article I will discuss about theData Center Management and Colocation Data Center.
